International Day of Rural Women commemorated in Spain
The International Day of Rural Women, observed on October 15, is being commemorated through various initiatives in Spain to highlight the essential role women play in rural economic and sustainable development.
In the Guadiana Integral Municipality Association, the Equality and Gender Violence Office has organized a series of workshops across several towns. These activities include cognitive stimulation for seniors, consumer rights guidance, and workshops focused on personal growth, laughter therapy for self-esteem, and reflecting on gender mandates related to caregiving and personal leisure.
Additionally, the ONCE Social Group has released a special lottery coupon to support the visibility of rural women, many of whom live with disabilities. The initiative aims to recognize their contributions to food security, social well-being, and the prevention of rural depopulation. The UN, which established this day in 2007, emphasizes the decisive role of rural women in agricultural development and poverty eradication.
