Brazil projects record corn output and mixed grain forecasts for 2026/27

Brazil's agricultural consultants forecast a record corn harvest of 144.96 million tonnes in the 2026/27 season, with total corn‑seeded area reaching 21.95 million hectares. The second‑crop corn area is expected to rise modestly, supporting the record output.

The government’s grain outlook puts total grain production for 2025/26 at 360.1 million tonnes, with corn accounting for about 141.7 million tonnes. Soybean prices have climbed to a six‑month high of roughly R$141 per 60‑kg sack, and planting plans anticipate expanding soy‑cultivated area to 49.1 million hectares in 2026/27, mainly in the Central‑West. Rice prices have breached R$63 per sack, and analysts project 2026/27 rice production near or below 10 million tonnes, down from the current 11 million. Coffee exports are expected to rise to around 45 million 60‑kg sacks in 2026/27, though heavy El Niño rains have raised concerns about bean quality.
