International groups express solidarity with Cuba against US pressure
Various international groups and representatives have expressed solidarity with Cuba, rejecting United States pressure and economic measures against the island. In the Dominican Republic, over 300 representatives from political and social organizations participated in a solidarity conference. The event reaffirmed support for Cuban sovereignty and criticized US economic and commercial restrictions, noting their impact on access to food, medicine, electricity, and fuel.
The conference also addressed the historical ties between the Dominican and Cuban people and condemned diplomatic pressures aimed at altering regional relations with Cuba. Simultaneously, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez responded to statements made by US President Donald Trump at the United Nations, characterizing US actions as provocative. The Cuban delegation left the UN plenary in protest, with Rodríguez asserting that the economic blockade constitutes a collective punishment and that Cuba remains a sovereign nation that poses no threat to others.
