Chad and Cameroon advance digital governance and AI initiatives

Digital governance and technological advancement are central themes in recent developments across Chad and Cameroon.

In Chad, the 10th edition of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is scheduled for September 23-24, 2026, in N’Djamena. Organized under the theme ‘Artificial intelligence at the service of Chadian development: anticipating, training, regulating’, the forum aims to address the opportunities and challenges AI presents for education, health, agriculture, and public administration. The event seeks to foster inclusive dialogue among international experts, public institutions, and the private sector to promote sustainable digital development.

In Cameroon, the 2026 IGF recently concluded in Yaoundé, focusing on data interoperability as the foundation for public digital infrastructure. The forum addressed the need to move away from fragmented digital platforms toward a secure, interconnected system for administrative services and digital payments. During the event, Huawei Cameroon highlighted its role as a technical partner, promoting solutions like RuralStar to expand mobile coverage in remote areas and addressing the economic value of data in the age of AI.

Additionally, in N’Djamena, a training workshop was held for the Integrated Project for Flood Control and Urban Resilience (PILIER). The session focused on a Complaint Management Mechanism to allow citizens to report concerns regarding urban infrastructure and flood prevention efforts.
