Interpol issues yellow alert for missing Argentine police officer

Authorities have issued an Interpol yellow alert following the disappearance of Maximiliano Oscar Martínez, an Argentine Federal Police officer. Martínez was last seen on Tuesday, September 8, after leaving his home in La Quiaca, Argentina, on a bicycle to travel to the neighboring Bolivian city of Villazón for shopping.

Search operations have been intensified in the border region, involving a binational effort between Argentine and Bolivian security forces. In Argentina, the investigation is being coordinated by the Jujuy Police, Gendarmería Nacional, and the Argentine Federal Police under prosecutor Alberto Omar Mendívil. In Bolivia, prosecutors from Villazón and La Quiaca have conducted searches in local establishments, including nightlife venues, and are analyzing security camera footage to establish his last known movements.

The Potosí Departmental Prosecutor's Office has requested cooperation from officials in Tupiza to expand the search area. The disappearance remains a mystery as investigators continue to track potential leads across the border.
