Intesa Sanpaolo launches 20 billion euro plan for Italian SMEs

Intesa Sanpaolo has launched a 20 billion euro financing plan aimed at supporting small and micro-enterprises within the commerce, artisan, and tourism sectors in Italy. The initiative, presented in Milan, seeks to promote economic growth, digitalization, and energy requalification while maintaining employment stability across various regions.

Key measures include the total elimination of POS commissions for physical transactions up to 20 euros, a move estimated to save small merchants approximately 100 million euros over 14 months. For the tourism sector, the bank is introducing specialized tools such as the ‘Hotel Booking Advance’ line to help businesses manage seasonal liquidity fluctuations. Additionally, the plan offers flexible financing options like ‘Zero First Installment’ for loans up to 50,000 euros.

The program was developed in collaboration with major industry associations, including Confcommercio, Federalberghi, and Confartigianato, to address challenges such as energy costs and the need for digital transformation. This strategic pact aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Italy’s proximity economy.
