Intesa Sanpaolo economic and investment initiatives
Overview
Intesa Sanpaolo has undertaken several initiatives to support the Italian economy and connect domestic companies with capital.
In September 2026, the bank’s IMI Corporate & Investment Banking division hosted the “Italian Equity Champions” conference in New York. The event facilitated dialogue between 15 prominent Italian listed companies—including Acea, Eni, and De’ Longhi—and over 50 major U.S. institutional investors through approximately 150 meetings. This was followed in October 2026 by the “Italian Excellences” event in Paris, which facilitated approximately 400 meetings between high-growth Italian companies in sectors such as manufacturing, technology, and industry, and over 90 institutional investors from 63 global firms. Massimo Mocio, Deputy Chief and Head of Global Banking & Markets, noted that engaging international markets is critical for maintaining competitiveness.
Simultaneously, the bank expanded its domestic focus by launching a 20 billion euro support plan for over 4.4 million small and micro-enterprises in the commerce, crafts, and tourism sectors. Key measures include the total elimination of POS commissions for transactions up to 20 euros and specialized liquidity tools like the ‘Hotel Booking Advance’ line.
Furthering its commitment to innovation, the bank recently concluded its Up2Stars and In Action ESG CLIMATE programs. The In Action ESG CLIMATE program awarded grants totaling over 2 million euros across 14 projects to support the circular economy and sustainable logistics. The Up2Stars program, promoted by the Banca dei Territori division, focuses on accelerating high-tech startups by connecting them with investors and providing infrastructure for development, including international missions to the USA. Over the last decade, the bank has provided 1 billion euros in financing to 4,200 innovative companies and startups.
