INTRANT opens new driver's license offices in Montecristi and Dajabón

The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT) has opened its first driver's license offices in the border provinces of Montecristi and Dajabón. This expansion of the National Driver's License System aims to bring government services closer to citizens in strategic border areas, reducing the need for long-distance travel.

Each new office has the capacity to issue up to 200 licenses per day, providing a combined daily output of 400 documents. According to the 2025 Vehicle Fleet Report from the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII), the expansion will directly benefit approximately 69,122 vehicle owners, including 44,124 in Montecristi and 24,998 in Dajabón.

The offices provide a full range of services, including registration, signature and fingerprint capture, road safety education, theoretical exams, CEMECO evaluations, and practical driving tests for motorcyclists. Citizens can process learner's permits, initial licenses, renewals, and duplicates for lost or damaged documents. Specialized attention is also available for members of the National Police.
