Corrientes investigation: burned clothing found in Nancy Godoy femicide case

Authorities in the Esquina department of Corrientes, Argentina, have discovered burned clothing in a rural structure used by Ireneo Zarza, a foreman accused of the femicide of rural teacher Nancy Godoy. The clothing, found approximately 150 meters from the school where Godoy served as director, will undergo DNA testing to determine if it belonged to the educator, who has been missing since early October.

The investigation into the disappearance of the teacher from Escuela Rural N° 626 has led to several arrests. Judges have ordered preventive detention for Zarza and Felipe Dionisio Sandoval, as well as Rosa Leguizamón and Nahuel Rojas. Prosecutors are investigating a group of workers from the El Curupí estate, with some sources suggesting the involvement of several laborers.

While the prosecution is treating the case as a femicide, the defense for Zarza has criticized the local criminal procedural code, arguing that the current legal framework is ill-suited for complex investigations where a body has not yet been recovered. Investigators continue to search the El Malezal area, including inspecting water wells and analyzing other seized items, such as a muzzle and clothing with reddish stains.
