Investigation grows into death of Nolan Wells on Mississippi's Horn Island

Uncertainty and tension are growing following the death of 18-year-old Nolan Wells, whose body was found along the coast of Horn Island, Mississippi, after he disappeared during a July 4th excursion. While local authorities have interviewed three friends who traveled with Wells, no arrests or charges have been made. The Mississippi State Forensic Examiner's Office is currently awaiting toxicology results from the official autopsy.

Civil rights attorney Ben Crump, representing the Wells family, expressed skepticism regarding the theory that the teen accidentally drowned, noting that Wells was a strong athlete and swimmer. Crump stated, “The family does not trust Mississippi law enforcement to conduct a fair investigation for their Black son, who was found dead after boarding a boat with three young white males.”

In an attempt to seek answers, two of Wells' friends, Warren Hudson and Jax Pitalo, recently returned to Horn Island for an unofficial investigation of the area's dynamics. Their lawyers emphasized that the young men are
