Invisible aligners use digital technology for dental correction
Invisible aligners serve as a discreet alternative to traditional orthodontic braces, utilizing digital planning and personalized clear plates to gradually reposition teeth. The process begins with a professional dental evaluation to assess bite and tooth position, followed by a digital scan of the dental arch. This scan replaces traditional putty molds and creates a digital replica used for treatment planning.
Using this digital data, orthodontists can simulate tooth movement and visualize the final results before the treatment begins. Each custom aligner is engineered to apply specific forces to certain teeth. Michael Ruah, CEO of SouSmile, notes that digital planning provides greater predictability, allowing dentists to monitor the planned evolution of the teeth throughout the personalized treatment sequence.
