IOSFA administrator Ariel Guzmán resigns amid massive debt crisis
Ariel Guzmán has resigned as the acting administrator of IOSFA, the health insurance institute for Argentina's armed forces and security forces, amid a severe financial crisis. His departure follows a meeting with Defense Minister Carlos Presti, who reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the liquidation process.
The institute is currently undergoing a transition to a new entity, OSFA, created by the government to replace it. However, IOSFA remains responsible for a massive accumulated debt, estimated at approximately 213 billion pesos, owed to healthcare providers. This financial instability has led to service interruptions, forcing many members to seek care at public or military hospitals.
The crisis has also triggered labor unrest. The State Workers Association (ATE) has denounced the planned closure of 13 hotels and two recreational centers, warning that these measures put 600 jobs at risk. Additionally, the union has criticized the management of the transition and the impact on workers' livelihoods.
