Iowa faces ongoing flooding and damp weather

Heavy rainfall and saturated ground continue to cause flooding and weather disruptions across Iowa. The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for several rivers in southeast Iowa, including the English, Iowa, Cedar, and North Skunk rivers.

The English River near Kalona has reached levels not seen since 2019, with water spilling onto rural roads and agricultural land. Other monitored areas include the Iowa River near Lone Tree, the Cedar River near Conesville, and the North Skunk River near Sigourney, all of which have exceeded or are projected to exceed flood stages.

In addition to flooding, a cool and damp weather pattern is expected to persist through Monday, bringing further showers, fog, and reduced visibility for commuters. While a shift toward drier, cooler fall conditions is forecasted for mid-week, another weather system may bring thunderstorms back to parts of the state by Thursday.
