Iowa State football prepares for matchup against No. 8 BYU

Iowa State football BYU Cougars Big 12 Conference college football predictions Jimmy Rogers

The Iowa State Cyclones are preparing for a Week 6 matchup against the No. 8 BYU Cougars. The game marks Iowa State’s first out-of-state contest of the season and will take place on a Friday night at 9:30 p.m. at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

Head coach Jimmy Rogers noted that the team is preparing for the high elevation of the stadium and the loud environment. The Cyclones, currently 3-2 on the season, are looking for their first win against a top-10 opponent since 2017. BYU is led by sophomore quarterback Bear Bachmeier, who has thrown for over 3,000 yards in his previous season.

In addition to the upcoming matchup, ESPN analyst Kyle Bonagura has predicted that Iowa State will earn a bowl game invitation this season, specifically projecting them for the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana.
