Ipem-SP conducts road safety and metrological inspections in São Paulo

Ipem-SP, the Institute of Weights and Measures of the State of São Paulo, is conducting several inspection operations across the state to ensure road safety and consumer confidence.

In Campinas, officials are scheduled to perform metrological verifications on speed radars on August 24. These inspections, which take between 20 minutes and one hour, are mandatory annually or following equipment repairs to ensure traffic monitoring accuracy. If a radar passes, it receives a certificate valid for one year; if it fails, the manufacturer is notified to correct the error.

In Agudos, a recent operation on the Marechal Rondon highway (SP-300) focused on vehicles transporting dangerous goods, such as fuels, and tachograph compliance. Supported by the Military Highway Police, the inspection resulted in the rejection of four out of nine dangerous goods transport vehicles due to issues including product leaks, expired metrological certificates, and missing seals. Additionally, 12 out of 113 tachographs inspected were cited for having expired verification certificates.
