Ipem-SP inspection operations in São Paulo

Overview

The Institute of Weights and Measures of the State of São Paulo (Ipem-SP) has been conducting various inspection operations across the state to ensure road safety, metrological accuracy, and consumer protection.

Initial operations included metrological verifications of speed radars in Campinas and inspections of vehicles transporting dangerous goods on the Marechal Rondon highway in Agudos. In the Agudos operation, supported by the Military Highway Police, several vehicles were rejected due to product leaks, expired certificates, or missing seals, while multiple tachographs were cited for expired verification.

Subsequent inspections at the Malosso Bioenergia plant in Itápolis revealed more serious irregularities. Officials discovered fraud in two semi-trailer tanks that had been modified with internal metallic containers and plastic canisters intended to retain portions of the product during delivery. These vehicles were escorted to a workshop in Bauru for decontamination and seizure of the fraudulent devices. Additional tachograph violations were also noted during this operation.
