Ipem-SP launches anti‑fraud fuel pump locator, inspects dangerous‑goods transport in São Paulo

The Instituto de Pesos e Medidas do Estado de São Paulo (Ipem‑SP) has released a digital platform that allows consumers to locate fuel pumps certified with anti‑fraud technology. The map, which has recorded more than 150,000 accesses, lets users search by city and see which stations have verified pumps, giving shoppers the ability to choose locations where the volume of fuel delivered matches the amount paid. President Marcos Heleno Guerson de Oliveira Junior said the tool “provides transparency so the consumer can make safer choices.”

On 21 July, Ipem‑SP, together with the Polícia Militar Rodoviária, carried out a safety inspection on the SP‑225 highway near Santa Cruz do Rio Pardo. Inspectors examined ten tank vehicles transporting hazardous products, mainly fuels, and found two with ineffective sealing, product leaks, and expired certification. Of the 45 tachographs checked, six were cited for expired verification certificates and missing seals. Violations can attract fines of up to R$1.5 million under federal law.
