Ipiales Police Reinforce Force and Seize Weapons in Major Crackdown
The National Police deployed an additional 50 patrol officers to the border municipality of Ipiales, Nariño, Colombia, to expand operational capacity and improve community safety. Lieutenant Colonel Francisco Bohórquez said the new personnel will be positioned across urban and rural sectors to strengthen surveillance, prevention and territorial control.
In a separate operation the police halted a vehicle, intercepted four suspects and confiscated two pistols, a trauma weapon, a fragmentation grenade, ammunition and investigative documents. Three of the detainees are foreign nationals and are linked to migrant trafficking, extortion kidnapping and homicide. Authorities said the seizure weakens criminal logistics and will aid ongoing judicial processes.
