IPO markets surge with high activity in India and global venture-backed listings
The primary market has seen a significant surge in activity during the second half of 2026. In India, August recorded 23 mainboard IPOs that raised Rs 22,439 crore. This follows a period of tepid activity in the first half of the year, where fundraising reached as low as Rs 1,076 crore in April. Additionally, bulk and block deals in the Indian market reached Rs 98,353 crore in August, marking a two-year peak.
Globally, the venture-backed IPO landscape has been shaped by record-setting events, including SpaceX’s historic June IPO which raised $86 billion. In the first half of 2026, 58 venture-backed companies valued at $1 billion or more went public, raising a collective $110.8 billion. While the public-market window is narrowing, several high-profile startups, including Anthropic, remain under watch as potential candidates for listings in the coming months.
