IPOB Appeals to US Congress Over Nnamdi Kanu Detention and Christian Persecution in Nigeria

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) sent a delegation to Washington, D.C., to attend the Civil Society Presentation of the Cole‑More Recommendations. Representatives, including Mazi Chris Nwaogu, head of IPOB’s 4th Directorate of State, and U.S. diplomatic liaison Mike Arnold, met members of the United States Congress, policy experts, faith leaders and civil‑society groups.

At the hearing the group highlighted the continued detention of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who is serving a life sentence for treason‑related charges and is appealing the judgment. IPOB also warned of escalating attacks on Christian communities and broader insecurity across Nigeria, urging stronger international engagement and a peaceful, democratic resolution to the long‑standing Biafra question.
