IPS Paraguay initiates medical outsourcing and real estate audits

The Instituto de Previsión Social (IPS) in Paraguay is undertaking several administrative and operational shifts under the leadership of President Derlis León.

In terms of medical services, the IPS Administration Council has authorized a new tender for outsourced medical services in the Caaguazú Department, valued at G. 25,000 million. This decision maintains the existing model of using private clinics to ensure service continuity. Additionally, the institution has resumed the bidding process for outsourced ambulance services, covering nine high-complexity units and 28 regular units to improve response capacity between major hospitals.

On the financial and asset management front, the IPS has launched a comprehensive review of its real estate lease contracts. Internal audits revealed that certain properties in the Chaco region are being leased at rates significantly below market value, yielding an average annual return of approximately 1%. The administration is evaluating the legal basis of these long-standing agreements and considering the public auction of properties that do not provide adequate returns.
