IPS Brasil 2026 ranks Areial and Natal for quality of life

The 2026 Social Progress Index (IPS) Brasil has released its latest rankings, evaluating social and environmental indicators across 5,570 Brazilian municipalities. The index measures well-being through criteria such as nutrition, healthcare, sanitation, personal safety, and environmental quality.

In the state of Paraíba, the municipality of Areial ranked 25th for quality of life with a score of 63.26 points. The town has shown consistent growth in its index, rising from 57.35 points in 2024 and 59.64 points in 2025.

In the Northeast region, Natal was identified as the second capital with the best quality of life, scoring 66.82 points. Natal ranked eighth among all Brazilian capitals, trailing Curitiba, Brasília, and São Paulo. The capital showed particularly strong performance in access to information and communication, higher education, and environmental quality.
