IPS Trainee Uday Krishna Reddy Attempts Suicide Amid Sexual Harassment Allegations in Hyderabad

Trainee Indian Police Service officer Uday Krishna Reddy, studying at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad, was booked after a fellow female trainee filed a First Information Report on July 18 accusing him of repeated sexual harassment, assault, stalking, voyeurism, intimidation and blackmail. The complaint details alleged abusive WhatsApp messages, derogatory remarks before other trainees, forced disclosure of phone passwords, secret recording of a private video that was sent to the victim’s husband, and an incident on July 9 where he allegedly restrained her, grabbed her hair, threatened her with a knife and held her in a room against her will.

Reddy denied the accusations, posting on social media that the allegations were "baseless and untrue" and expressing confidence in the legal process. On July 20 he allegedly ingested a poisonous substance at a relative’s home in Moti Nagar and was rushed to a private hospital in SR Nagar where he remains in intensive care. A letter attributed to him later surfaced claiming a relationship with the complainant and asserting that she and others had manipulated him. Police investigations continue and the academy has suspended Reddy pending the outcome.
