Ipsos study identifies economic security as key to success in Chile and Spain

The Ipsos ‘Life Aspirations 2026’ study reveals that economic security is a primary indicator of success in several countries, with a strong emphasis on stable employment and home ownership.

In Chile, 67% of respondents associate a successful life with full-time stable employment, and 66% link it to owning a home. These figures are eight percentage points higher than the average across the 30 countries surveyed. Family milestones, such as becoming a parent, were cited by only 25% of Chileans, which is six points below the global average.

In Spain, 64% of people consider home ownership a sign of success, nearly equal to the 65% who prioritize stable employment. However, the study highlights a gap in confidence among younger populations; only 52% of Generation Z in Spain believe they will ever own a home. This cohort also reported higher emotional stakes, with 62% stating they would feel sad if they failed to achieve job stability.
