IPVC to become Portugal's first polytechnic university
The Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo (IPVC) announced that, following Law 16/2023, it will automatically transition to a polytechnic university in August. The institution has a year to adjust its legal structure, draft regulations for a statutory assembly election, and amend its statutes. IPVC serves around 6,000 students across six schools, offering 28 bachelor's degrees, 40 master's programmes, 34 professional courses and other qualifications.
In parallel, IPVC will take part in the Lisbon Blue Economy Employment and Careers Fair on 15 October, where visitors who enrol in person for its Post‑graduate in Leadership for Sustainable Blue Economy will receive significant discounts. The event aims to promote the region’s expertise in maritime and blue‑economy sectors and attract new talent to the institution.
