Iquique begins process to create official community flag

The Municipality of Iquique has launched a process to create an official flag to represent the identity of the city and its community. The initiative aims to address the current lack of a single, official symbol for the commune.

Mayor Mauricio Soria Macchiavello led an initial formal meeting in Santiago with the National Vexillology Corporation (CONAVEX Chile) to establish technical foundations for the project. The process will involve various stages of participation, including consultations with local history, culture, and heritage experts, and will ultimately culminate in a citizen vote where residents will choose the final design.
