Iquique hosts community cleanup at Playa Brava

A community cleanup event will take place at Playa Brava in Iquique this Friday, September 25, to commemorate International Coastal Cleanup Day. Scheduled from 10:00 to 13:00, the initiative aims to promote coastal care and raise awareness regarding waste generation and disposal.

Miguel Aguirre San Martín, the Environmental Seremi of Tarapacá, has invited the community, particularly children and youth, to participate. Organizers expect more than 300 participants through the collaboration of public, private, and non-governmental institutions.

The event aligns with the RE-genera Chile framework, the National Circular Economy Agenda promoted by the Ministry of the Environment. This agenda seeks to transition from simple waste disposal to a management system focused on reducing, reusing, recycling, and recovering materials, with a national goal of reaching a 40% recycling rate by 2030.
