Iquique police detain three youths after foiled armed robbery attempt

Three suspects aged 15, 17 and 21 were arrested by Carabineros of the 4ª Comisaría Cavancha following a failed robbery with intimidation at Parque Las Banderas in Iquique shortly after midnight. The victims reported that the assailants brandished what appeared to be firearms, but they escaped before any injury or theft occurred.

Using descriptions provided by the victims and footage from the municipal surveillance system, police located the suspects nearby, recovered two apparent weapons—a metal pistol and a second firearm hidden in a suspect’s clothing—and took the three individuals to the police station. They were later identified by the victims, presented before the Iquique Guarantee Court, and the weapons were forwarded to Labocar for forensic analysis.
