Iran accuses U.S. of violating Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit that the United States has violated the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. Araghchi called on Washington to return to its commitments under the agreement to restore stability and end the current situation.

During discussions, the Iranian delegation focused on economic cooperation and addressed the consequences of American military actions against Iran. Araghchi emphasized that the Iranian people will continue to defend their rights.

Separately, U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons remains a primary objective of the United States. Trump stated that while Tehran may desire an agreement, it is not prepared to make the necessary deal. He further characterized the current state of Iran as being in significant difficulty.
