Iran diplomatic and nuclear negotiation status

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has addressed the status of nuclear agreements and diplomatic relations with the United States. Initially, Araghchi defended the JCPOA, attributing setbacks in the deal to internal Iranian dynamics and blaming Israel for being the “primary loser” of the agreement.

As negotiations progressed, Araghchi clarified that no direct talks are currently occurring between Tehran and Washington, though third parties are attempting to facilitate them. He established preconditions for returning to the negotiating table, stating that the United States must cease violations of the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and provide reparations for past breaches. He further noted that despite previous military pressure and demands for “unconditional surrender,” Iran’s resistance proved its strength as an “invincible power.”

Following attacks launched by the United States and Israel on February 28, Araghchi claimed that Iran successfully navigated both military and diplomatic challenges. He asserted that despite initial calls for “unconditional surrender” from US President Donald Trump, adversaries were forced to seek negotiations within approximately 20 days. Speaking at a ceremony focused on the reconstruction of infrastructure damaged during the conflict, Araghchi maintained that Iran has proven itself to be an “invincible power” and noted that international officials have acknowledged the nation’s successful resistance.

Additionally, Araghchi mentioned that negotiations with Oman are nearing completion regarding new shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz, though he noted that final decisions regarding the Strait depend on various conditions.
