Iran and China Strengthen Strategic Ties at Brics NSA Meeting in New Delhi

At the Brics National Security Advisors (NSA) meeting in New Delhi on 22 June, Iran’s Deputy Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Dr Gadir Nezhami, met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The two officials discussed regional security, mutual cooperation and the need to deepen the strategic partnership between Tehran and Beijing. Dr Nezhami thanked China for its political support and reaffirmed Iran’s readiness to respond to any potential threats. Wang Yi reiterated China’s support for Iran’s security and regional stability and welcomed stronger diplomatic ties.

The meeting, chaired by India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, also included Russia’s Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu and senior officials from the other Brics members. Participants highlighted the importance of continued dialogue and expanded cooperation on security issues beyond the traditional economic focus of Brics.
