Iran Says Peace Requires End of US Interventions and Tightens Hormuz Navigation Rules
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei stated that “real peace in West Asia can only be achieved by ending US interventions and the occupation,” dismissing remarks by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Baqaei added that as long as the United States maintains its military and interventionist policy and its proxy, Israel, continues its actions, peace will remain out of reach.
Separately, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard announced new restrictions on navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, requiring vessels to obtain pre‑registered permits and to follow routes set by Iranian authorities. The guard warned that any ship sailing outside these approved paths would face risks. The United States and Western countries reiterated their commitment to freedom of navigation in the strategically vital waterway, which carries a significant share of global oil exports.
Both developments reflect heightened Iranian opposition to U.S. involvement in the region and underscore ongoing tensions that could affect regional security and global energy markets.
