Iran announces no decision on resuming talks with the United States
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran has not yet decided whether to resume formal negotiations with the United States. While mediators such as Qatar and Pakistan are facilitating the exchange of messages, Araghchi emphasized that these communications do not constitute official negotiations.
Amid rising tensions, Iran is working with Oman to establish new technical maritime routes through the Strait of Hormuz, as previous routes are deemed non-functional. Araghchi noted that the resumption of vessel traffic through the waterway remains contingent on the United States fulfilling specific conditions.
In the United States, President Donald Trump has suggested plans to designate the Strait of Hormuz as U.S. territory and indicated intentions to increase economic pressure on Iran. Iranian officials have responded by asserting that Iran holds the sole authority to determine whether the strait remains open or closed.
