Iran and United States have no diplomatic talks, Iranian foreign ministry says

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei announced that Tehran and Washington are currently not engaged in any diplomatic negotiations. He attributed the stalemate to continued U.S. aggression against Iran, stating that a reasonable diplomatic process cannot begin while the United States maintains its hostile posture.

Baghaei referred to President Donald Trump’s July 8 announcement ending the cease‑fire reached on 18 June, after which U.S. forces carried out a series of attacks on Iranian targets. Iran responded by striking U.S. bases in the Middle East, closing the Strait of Hormuz, and accusing Washington of escalating the conflict.

The ministry emphasized that Iran has always used diplomatic channels to protect its national interests but will focus on defence while the United States does not change its stance.
