Trump threatens Iran with military action amid UN delegation dispute

U.S. President Donald Trump has intensified threats against Iran, stating that the administration must either reach a definitive deal or "blow them up." In an interview with Time, Trump suggested that "annihilating Iran" would bring peace to the world, noting that he considers recent Iranian diplomatic offers and ceasefire proposals to be "insufficient." He also remarked that the conflict in the Strait of Hormuz would conclude "very soon one way or another."

Simultaneously, a diplomatic dispute has emerged regarding the Iranian delegation at the United Nations. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio reportedly ordered the Iranian mission, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, to leave New York immediately following a stalemate in indirect negotiations mediated by Qatar. U.S. officials claimed the delegation had "overstayed their welcome" after the UN General Assembly concluded.

Iran's permanent mission to the UN has denied these expulsion claims, asserting that their departure was pre-planned and that their itinerary had been communicated to the U.S. Department of State weeks in advance. Additionally, Iranian officials accused the U.S. of using logistical hurdles and visa restrictions to obstruct the participation of President Masoud Pezeshkian and his delegation in the UN assembly.
