Iran approves fuel subsidies for ride-hailing drivers

The Iranian government has approved a new fuel subsidy plan for ride-hailing drivers following an energy meeting chaired by President Masoud Pezeshkian. To address the needs of internet taxi drivers, the government will allocate additional fuel quotas based on mileage, up to a maximum of 300 liters per month, directly onto their fuel cards.

This decision follows a gasoline price increase that took effect on September 7, raising the rate to 10,000 Tomans per liter. Executives from major ride-hailing platforms, including Snapp CEO Mohammad Khalaj and Tapsi CEO Mostafa Seyedhosseini, expressed support for the move. They noted that securing fuel access is vital for the economic continuity of drivers and helps prevent the increased costs from being passed on to daily commuters.
