Iranian medicine prices surge due to rising production and logistics costs
The Iranian pharmaceutical market is facing significant price hikes. According to Hadi Ahmadi, Public Relations Manager of the Iranian Pharmacists Association, the price of domestically produced medicines has risen by approximately 150 percent, while foreign medicines have seen increases between 300 and 400 percent.
Several factors are driving these costs. The removal of preferential exchange rates for raw materials has caused a fivefold increase in procurement costs. Additionally, damage to the aluminum and petrochemical industries has tripled the cost of packaging materials. Logistics have also become more expensive, as disruptions in maritime routes have forced a shift to air and land transport, which can increase shipping costs by up to three times.
