Iran automotive market sees surge in voucher prices and model fluctuations
The Iranian automotive market is experiencing significant volatility, characterized by a surge in car voucher trading and simultaneous price drops in certain vehicle models.
In the secondary voucher market, prices for vehicle rights have seen dramatic increases, with some vouchers rising between 200% and 300% compared to July levels. For instance, Soren voucher prices rose from approximately 20 million to 80 million Tomans, while Tara vouchers increased from 50 million to 150 million Tomans. This trend is driven by the widening gap between factory prices and free market rates, leading intermediaries to purchase vouchers and resell the final vehicles.
Conversely, recent market data shows a downward trend in specific vehicle prices due to falling gold and dollar rates. Domestic car prices have decreased by amounts ranging from 15 million to over 100 million Tomans. Notable drops include the Peugeot 207, which fell by 108 million Tomans, and the Tiggo 9, which saw a reduction of 400 million Tomans. Despite these declines, market analysts suggest this may not indicate a sustained downward trend, as the sector remains highly sensitive to financial market fluctuations and consumer expectations.
