Iran car import market shows recovery and growth

Data from the Majlis Research Center indicates a recovery in Iran's imported vehicle market following a five-year period of stagnation caused by import bans between 2018 and 2022. After imports dropped to near zero in recent years, the market has seen a significant surge, with passenger vehicle imports rising from 11,236 units in 2023 to an estimated 67,000 units by 2025.

While the average dollar value per imported vehicle initially dropped to $19,000 due to a focus on economy models, prices have since trended upward. By 2025, the average price reached $22,841, representing a 12 percent increase. The total dollar value of passenger vehicle imports in 2025 reached $1.5 billion, the highest level since 2016.
