The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced the seizure of an advanced American unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) in the Strait of Hormuz. The captured device has been identified as a Remus 600, an autonomous submersible used for missions such as surveillance, seabed mapping, and mine countermeasures.

According to the IRGC, the operation was a coordinated effort utilizing intelligence monitoring and electronic warfare capabilities. Iranian specialists are currently examining the vehicle to recover and analyze its stored data. The IRGC characterized the device as being engaged in espionage missions within the strategic waterway.

This incident marks the second such seizure by Iran in less than three weeks, following the capture of an Anduril Industries Dive-LD vehicle on September 8. The IRGC reiterated that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed to unauthorized traffic and warned of continued decisive action against perceived security threats in the region.

In a related development, US President Donald Trump reportedly rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which had included conditions such as lifting sanctions and unfreezing assets in exchange for a cessation of hostilities.
