Iran commodity markets see price rises amid currency volatility

During the month of Shahrivar 1405, Iran's steel and automotive markets experienced significant price volatility driven largely by fluctuations in the free market exchange rate.

In the steel sector, sponge iron saw the most substantial growth, increasing by 34.11 percent. Other products, including steel rebar, slabs, and billets, also recorded price hikes. Rebar prices rose significantly, with various types seeing increases between 21 and 28 percent. These rises were primarily attributed to rising replacement costs and currency fluctuations rather than a surge in actual consumer demand.

In the automotive market, domestic and assembly vehicle prices continued an upward trend. While prices for models like the Tara Automatic and Dena Plus increased, the pace of growth was more moderate compared to previous months. Market analysts note that while rising exchange rates and reduced supply act as upward drivers, weakened consumer purchasing power is limiting the extent of these price increases.
