Iran condemns U.S. and Israel over terrorism allegations and military actions

Iranian officials and leadership have issued sharp criticisms of the United States and Israel regarding military actions and terrorism narratives. During the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian accused Washington and Tel Aviv of practicing “state terrorism” and maintaining impunity while attacking civilian populations in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Iran.

Pezeshkian criticized the double standards of Western powers, arguing they claim to fight terrorism while acting as its primary promoters through the excessive use of military technology. He advocated for an alternative to hegemony based on the UN Charter and state sovereignty.

In a separate development, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei responded to comments made by U.S. President Donald Trump during a September 11 memorial service at the Pentagon. Trump labeled Iran the “principal sponsor of terrorism in the world” and emphasized the need to prevent the country from acquiring nuclear weapons. Baqaei called the invocation of the 9/11 anniversary to justify potential conflict with Iran “completely absurd,” noting that the perpetrators of the 2001 attacks were not Iranian and criticizing the long-term consequences of the “war on terror” in Afghanistan and Iraq.
