Iran considers strikes on US military targets in Bulgaria and Cyprus

Iranian military planners are reportedly considering expanding the scope of conflict with the United States to include targets in southeastern Europe. According to reports from the Financial Times citing regime insiders, Tehran is evaluating potential strikes against American military assets in countries such as Bulgaria and Cyprus if President Donald Trump pursues further military escalation.

In Bulgaria, the strategic importance of the Bezmer air base has increased following recent authorization for US refueling aircraft to operate from the facility. In Cyprus, the presence of British military installations, including RAF Akrotiri, has also been noted in Iranian strategic assessments.

Beyond conventional military targets, Iranian strategists have examined the possibility of disrupting critical communication infrastructure by attacking undersea fiber-optic cables in the Strait of Hormuz. These assessments come amid a diplomatic stalemate, with President Trump stating that no negotiations with Tehran are currently scheduled.
