Iran Convicts Protesters Khshayar Rezvani and Hadiseh Marvardi

Iran's Tehran Court of Appeal confirmed the sentence of Khshayar Rezvani, a 41‑year‑old poet and writer detained during the nationwide protests that began on 7 December 2024. He was sentenced to three years and seven months in prison for “association and conspiracy against internal and external security,” eight months for “propaganda against the regime,” and received a two‑year travel ban and prohibition from online activity. The verdict mirrors the original 4‑year‑3‑month ruling issued by the Tehran Revolutionary Court.

In a separate case, 24‑year‑old activist Hadiseh Marvardi, arrested in Fariman during the same protests, was sentenced to three years in total: two years for “insulting the leader” and one year for “propaganda against the regime.” She is serving her sentence in Mashhad’s Vakil‑abad prison, having been transferred to a new block. Both convictions are part of a broader crackdown that has seen thousands killed, injured, and detained since the December protests.
