Iran Courts Hand Down Death Sentences in Multiple Murder Cases
A couple in Kashmar, Razavi Khorasan Province, were sentenced to death by the Fifth Criminal Court for participating in the murder of their 11‑year‑old adopted daughter, Mahsa. The court also ordered them to pay blood money and sentenced them to five years' imprisonment for causing severe injuries to their five‑year‑old adopted son.
In Tehran, a man was sentenced to death for a 2019 street‑fight murder after the verdict was upheld by the Supreme Court, and the case was sent to the Tehran execution branch. Separately, a 37‑year‑old prisoner in Kerman, previously condemned to death for a 12‑year‑old homicide with a firearm, was spared execution after the victim’s family granted forgiveness and declined compensation.
