Iran currency market sees US dollar rise amid judicial crackdown
The Iranian currency market has experienced significant volatility, with the US dollar approaching 258,000 tomans on the free market. This decline in the value of the national currency follows increased economic pressure and maritime blockades. Despite the Central Bank of Iran announcing plans to supply two billion dollars to the market, the prices of foreign currencies, including the Euro, UAE Dirham, Canadian Dollar, and British Pound, have continued to rise.
In response to market fluctuations, the Tehran Prosecutor's Office has ordered judicial officers to identify and take legal action against individuals causing disruption in both physical and virtual spaces. The judiciary reported that 51 active social media pages related to currency pricing were identified, with 24 seized and 11 operators summoned to judicial authorities.
Gold and coin prices have also seen upward trends. The Emami coin reached approximately 259.6 million tomans, and 18-karat gold prices have risen alongside the broader market instability.
