Iran daily gasoline shortfall of 20 million liters as imports become nearly impossible

Iran is confronting a daily deficit of about 20 million liters of gasoline. The country's refineries can produce roughly 110 million liters per day, while consumption has risen to about 130 million liters.

Spokesperson Hamid Hosseini of the Exporters’ Union for Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Products said regional and international restrictions have made gasoline imports “almost impossible.” He added that the war in Ukraine, which has disrupted Russian refinery output and oil‑ship exports, has eliminated one of Iran’s potential sources of imported fuel.

With limited ability to offset the gap through petrochemical units, the government may need to shift part of the financing burden to consumers, and a policy review on gasoline allocation and pricing is being considered.
