Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed Tehran's willingness to pursue a diplomatic settlement with the United States, asserting that Iran does not seek war but is prepared to defend itself against aggression. In several interviews, including with Fox News and during the UN General Assembly, Pezeshkian emphasized that the decision to end the ongoing conflict rests with Washington.

Regarding nuclear tensions, Pezeshkian stated that Iran has no intention of developing nuclear weapons, citing religious decrees that prohibit such weapons. He indicated that Tehran is prepared to reduce uranium enrichment levels and facilitate international inspections by the IAEA to ease regional tensions. He also reaffirmed Iran's commitment to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

The President referenced a memorandum of understanding signed with Donald Trump in June, stating that Iran remains ready to move forward based on that framework. Additionally, Pezeshkian denied claims that Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz, maintaining that the waterway remains open despite ongoing hostilities. He also clarified that the Houthi movement in Yemen operates independently and does not take direct orders from Iran.
