By 5 August, Pezeshkian expanded the narrative, describing Iran’s situation as the toughest post‑revolution period. He cited renewed U.S.–Israel attacks, fresh UN Security Council sanctions, and severe shortages of electricity, natural gas and water, as well as internal unrest, a recent 12‑day war with Israel and the 28 February attacks. Media reports also mentioned an alleged secret meeting with senior religious figure Mücteba Hamaney, though the president expressed uncertainty about its occurrence.
