Iran denies nuclear negotiations amid rising US military casualties
Iran has denied reports from Saudi media suggesting the nation agreed to temporarily halt its uranium enrichment program in exchange for the removal of United States sanctions. Iranian officials stated that their position remains unchanged and that no negotiations regarding the nuclear program are currently taking place.
Tehran has previously declared it will not make concessions regarding uranium enrichment or the export of enriched uranium. While Iran has expressed interest in returning to a June memorandum of understanding involving sanctions relief and the unfreezing of assets, US officials indicate that the Trump administration does not intend to return to that agreement and has instead tightened sanctions.
Separately, an investigation into military casualties reveals that 880 US service members have been killed or wounded in the conflict with Iran since the Trump administration ended Operation Epic Fury. Data shows that 444 of these casualties occurred in the 12 weeks following the official conclusion of the operation, as personnel are now classified under “Overseas Operations” by the Pentagon.
